Ridurre lo spreco alimentare e l'uso di plasticaReduce food waste and the use of plastic

  • È necessario attuare misure di riduzione dei rifiuti alimentari del 30% entro il 2025 e del 50% entro il 2030.
  • Ridurre il consumo dei prodotti in plastica monouso entro il 2026: tazze e bicchieri con i loro coperchi, contenitori per alimenti pronti al consumo (quali fast-food, sandwich, box di insalata, packaging di frutta, verdura e dolci confezionati).
  • Bandire la plastica usa e getta, che comprende prodotti in plastica oxo-degradabile e in plastica monouso, quali: stoviglie, posate, cannucce, agitatori per bevande, bicchieri e contenitori per alimenti in poliestere espanso  (come i contenitori con o senza coperchio, usati per conservare cibo pronto per essere consumato)
  • It is necessary to implement measures to reduce food waste by 30% by 2025 and by 50% by 2030.
  • Reduce the consumption of disposable plastic products by 2026: cups and glasses with their lids, containers for ready-to-eat foods (such as fast-food, sandwiches, salad boxes, packaging of packaged fruit, vegetables and sweets).
  • Banning disposable plastic , which includes oxo-degradable and single-use plastic products, such as: tableware, cutlery, straws, drink stirrers, glasses and containers for expanded polyester foods (such as containers with or without lids, used to store ready-to-eat food)

Il settore della ristorazione e del consumo alimentare mostrano in modo tangibile le contraddizioni del modello lineare e l’impatto negativo che questi ultimi hanno sull’ambiente.
Quanto cibo buttiamo via in tutto il mondo? Le stime degli sprechi e delle perdite alimentari annuali globali per quantità risultano allarmanti:
  • 45% delle radici e dei tuberi
  • 45% di frutta e verdura
  • 35% di pesce.
  • 30 % dei cereali
  • 20% di carne e dei prodotti a base di carne,
  • 20% di prodotti lattiero-caseari
  • 20% semi oleaginosi e delle leguminose
Questo implica che, in termini di impatto ambientale, sprechiamo ogni anno 250.000 miliardi di litri di acqua (sufficienti a soddisfare il bisogno idrico degli abitanti di una città come New York per 120 anni) e 1.4 miliardi di ettari di superficie agricola, immettendo in atmosfera 3,3 miliardi di tonnellate di CO2 equivalente.
The catering and food consumption sector tangibly show the contradictions of the linear model and the negative impact that the latter have on the environment.
How much food do we throw away around the world? Estimates of global annual food waste and losses by quantity are alarming:
  • 45% of roots and tubers
  • 45% fruit and vegetables
  • 35% fish.
  • 30% cereals
  • 20% meat and meat products,
  • 20% dairy products
  • 20% oilseeds and legumes
This implies that, in terms of environmental impact, we waste 250,000 billion liters of water every year (sufficient to meet the water needs of the inhabitants of a city like New York for 120 years) and 1.4 billion hectares of agricultural area, emitting 3.3 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere equivalent.

Alcune aziende sono riuscite a convertire i prodotti invenduti dei mercati ortofrutticoli in plastica 100% biodegradabile per realizzare packaging ecosostenibile per frutta e verdura.
